Role Description

Sevita International is looking for a person to fill a permanent position as the Quality Assurance and Inventory Support Technician for the seed processing plant in Inkerman, ON. This position requires extended hours from February through to June, but offers great flexibility through the summer months.

As the Quality Assurance and Inventory Support Technician, you are primarily responsible to:

  • Perform official grading and other required testing on all processed seed lots in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate seed processing with the plant manager and ensure a steady supply of soybeans is scheduled for delivery when required.
  • Oversee picking and loading trucks from the seed warehouse to ensure the correct product is shipped.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Sevita’s SOPs are being followed and make suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Utilize prescribed protocols to sample and test grower deliveries and conditioned beans. Tests include GMO, moisture, protein, oil, and other visual assessments.
  • Respond to quality related questions / inquiries from growers and clients.
  • Prepare product samples for customers.
  • Ensure sample integrity and quality is maintained.
  • Ensure samples are sent out for germination testing in a timely manner.
  • Ensure GMO testing is conducted in a timely manner.
  • Prepare shipping documentation.
  • Enter and maintain data in applicable software programs (ie. Prosoft, Seeding Success) and other spreadsheets.
  • File and store all required records and paperwork (ie. controlled documents) completed by production staff and ensure that all required details are filled in accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure inventory is tracked accurately and reported monthly.
  • Assist the Processing & Logistics Coordinator as required. This includes checking for discrepancies amongst the monthly inventory counts for all seed processing locations, assisting with dealer reconciliation disputes and other requests as they arise.
  • Generate progress reports upon request.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Accurate data entry and numerical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadline and work under stress.
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined.
  • Some working knowledge or experience in the agricultural, grain or supply managed sectors will be a benefit.
