HIGH PRICE OF SOYBEANS

The current spot price of old crop soybeans is closer to the all-time high set in the fall of 2012 than at any point over the last 10 years and 2022 prices are already extremely strong in a historical context. Combine this with food-grade soybean premiums that are double what they were back then, and Sevita food-grade growers could be marketing their crop at or near record highs this coming season.

SOYBEANS REQUIRE LESS FERTILIZER

The only thing certain in the fertilizer market right now is that supplies are going to be incredibly expensive and hard to come by in some cases. Soybeans are a legume and fix nitrogen in their nodules. This greatly reduces or eliminates the cost of nitrogen fertilizer on soybean acres.

GLYPHOSATE IN SHORT SUPPLY

Due to glyphosate being expensive and in short supply, many growers are likely going to spend more on weed control in their GM soybean fields than usual. If growers are going to invest more in their GM crops either way, now is a good time to consider earning a significant premium through a Sevita food-grade program.

Regardless of potential shortages and high prices, with increasing glyphosate weed resistance, growers may need to tank mix with different modes of action to control weeds which also increases costs. This makes food-grade soybeans an attractive option using the right combination of herbicides while providing a premium to offset the increased investment and then some.
