Contracting and Seed Sales Representative – Western Ontario
Sevita International, a leader in the Canadian soybean market, is seeking a Contracting and Seed Sales Rep in Western Ontario. Contribute to Sevita’s ongoing success in supplying value-added food-grade soybean varieties to progressive soy food makers around the world by facilitating high-value production opportunities for local growers.
This role will focus exclusively on grower contracting and support at the farm gate regardless of the channel through which a Sevita grower purchases their seed. The successful candidate will be able to maintain an optimal balance between supporting existing growers and cultivating opportunities with prospective producers in their area.
Primary Accountabilities:
Food Grade Soybean Contracting and Seed Sales
- Work with local growers to contract food-grade soybean production acres in your area in order to meet the company’s annual volume objectives by variety.
- Be the primary Sevita contact for all growers in your area.
- Oversee and take complete responsibility for the timely completion and accuracy of all traceability requirements and related paperwork for contract growers.
- Build relationships directly with all current, prospective, and lapsed growers in your area.
- Support Sevita dealer representatives on all grower-related opportunities and issues.
- Demonstrate a high level of competence in discussing and selling the profit opportunity of closed-loop, food-grade soybean production by utilizing existing tools and creating the appropriate message for each grower.
- Conduct your sales activities in accordance with Sevita’s sales and contracting process.
Regional Business Management and Development
- Collaborate with regional colleagues to develop and execute a strategic business plan with a heavy focus on farm gate level contracting and sales activities.
- Take an active role in planning and executing grower events in your area (eg: farm shows, Sevita customer events, plot tours etc).
- Leverage grower relationships and face-to-face sales experiences to provide feedback and recommendations to the company on programming, products, customer experience, and brand perception at the grower level.
- Represent the company at industry and grower events in your territory and elsewhere as appropriate. (eg: conferences, soil and crop meetings, retail level grower events)
Plots, Brand Exposure, and Data
- Meet or exceed “plot objectives” by variety on an annual basis to continuously improve the amount of relevant data and exposure by variety to the benefit of Sevita and our customers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, (Agri)Business, or a related field is preferred. Willing to consider a combination of work experience and continued professional development classes
- Existing knowledge of Western Ontario crop production and processing with a focus on soybeans
- A self-starter attitude with the drive and motivation to create your own success and grow within a position
- Proven sales and account management success with the ability to “close the deal”, relationship-building, and networking abilities
- Experience providing friendly and strategic customer service, complimented by clear and concise oral and written communication skills
- Strong business acumen, detail-oriented, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with computer programs and technology (specifically Microsoft Office and SAP)
- Licensed G driver with a clean record and comfortable driving long hours
